The Correct Way To Setup A Users My Documents Offline Synchronisation


How to correctly map users “My Documents” to a server share in Windows 7 without it changing the server share name to “Documents”.


Firstly, the wrong was to do it is to change the location of the “My Documents” folder under the “c:\Users\ Directory in Windows 7.
What this will do is change the name of the share to “Documents” which makes administrator difficult.

The correct way to do it is to (from the users computer) go to the network location where their User share is and make it “Always available offline” first!


This will enable windows sync and the folder will be made offline.

Then add this same folder to the My Documents Library and set it as the save location.


DONE!
