In Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 you receive the below error when trying to open an attachment;
"Outlook 2010 Cannot Create File, Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions to the folder"
"Outlook 2010 Cannot Create File, Right-click the folder you want to create the file in, and then click properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions to the folder"
Solution:
Open the registry editor (Start-Run-REGEDIT) and find the following keys;
Outlook 2003
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
Data Type: REG_SZ
Outlook 2007, 2010 and 2013
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
Data Type: REG_SZ
Value Name: OutlookSecureTempFolder
Data Type: REG_SZ
The OutlookSecureTempFolder key contains the path to the Secure Temp Folder, so all you have to do is copy the path and paste it into a Windows Explorer window and press enter.
Once the folder opens, select all files (CTRL+A) and delete them.
NOW DON'T WORRY! You haven't deleted the files, just the temporary copies :)
Restart outlook and your problem should be solved!
